I am going to give you three things that you can start doing right now to land your first coaching job.
1. Get Certified
If you aren’t certified, then it’s really difficult to get a job.
And two great area are math and science.
Schools usually always need these teachers and when you can double dip as a coach and a math/science teacher, then you are setting yourself up for success.
2. Volunteer
Another way is by searching your city for high schools, send an email to the coach, and ask if they need help.
Then you can get an interview and start getting to work.
As a volunteer you need to do everything the head coach asks you to do and find out what he doesn’t like to do and then do that.
3. Become a Middle School Coach
I know that a lot of people want to get to high school or higher, but sometimes Middle School is the best you can do.
And here’s something that you can do to set yourself apart:
Go to the high school coach that your middle school feeds into and ask him what he wants from the middle schoolers when they come to high school.
This will separate you from everybody else and when a spot becomes available, your name will be at the top of his list.
