So, you want to run the Air Raid Offense.
But you might not have the people to run this offense.
And that’s the most important factor when it comes to deciding what offense you should run.
Having the wrong personnel will doom your offense before you ever snap the ball on game night.
In this article, I am going to share with you 3 reasons that should stop you from running the Air Raid Offense so that you don’t waste your time and can give the best plan for your athletes.
Reason 1: You don’t have a quarterback
When I say that you don’t have a quarterback, I mean that his throws come out like a duck, has no idea what reads are, and panics by throwing the ball to the other team.
You can’t pass all the time with a player like that.
Reason 2: You don’t have wide receivers
It is difficult to be successful by throwing to people who cannot catch.
On game night when your quarterback throws a beautiful pass and it goes right through the hands of a receiver, you will regret installing the offense. Especially if it keeps happening over and over. Make sure your guys can catch and catch well.
The good news is that at the high school and youth level, you really only need two receivers. Put them at the slot and get at it.
Reason 3: You don’t have enough coaches
You need a running back coach, a quarterback coach, offensive line coach, and ideally, TWO wide receiver coaches. One for the outside guys and one for the inside guys.
If you are short staffed and only have three guys that have to do it all, then the Air Raid Offense might not be for you.
You are doing your players a disservice and not giving them the coaching that they deserve.
Should you run the Air Raid Offense?
Do you have a quarterback?
Do you have wide receivers?
Do you have enough coaches?
If you said yes to all three, then YES, YOU NEED TO RUN THE AIR RAID!
Run the offense and run it ’till the cows come home because you’re going to Master the Spread, Score Points, and Have Fun.
